MEININGER City Hostel & Hotel Tempelhofer Ufer is part of a hostel+hotel chain that has popped up all over Europe. Their name generally stands for good quality, for clean and modern no-frills accomodation either in hostel dorms or in private hotel rooms.

The outfit at Tempelhofer Ufer is a bit special: it is part of the Meininger Hostel at Hallesches Ufer across the street. Likewise the reception and the breakfast room and almost all the things that are advertised as facilities are also across the street. This can be a bit inconvenient. It is only a good feature if you want a bit of quiet and want to avoid the rowdy teens on school trips that sometimes flood the hostel at Hallesches Ufer. Or a cheap place to stay, because the beds in the dorm at Tempelhofer Ufer are usually cheaper than the beds in the dorms at Hallesches Ufer - but you can use the same facilities.

Accessibility: The most positive I have to say about this hostel is that the dorm rooms at the lowest level are 100% wheelchair accessible and completely barrier-free. This includes the toilet and the showers, which is not always a given. And to top it off you can stay in this dorm from 8 EUR per night. If you are travelling in a wheelchair and want a cheap place to stay this is the hostel to be at in Berlin.

The location of the hostel is good, easily accessible by public transport and within reasonable distance from most attractions. Unfortunately there is a noisy street right in front of the hostel (both at Tempelhofer Ufer and at the Hallesches Ufer across said noisy street), if you have a room with a window that goes out in the street you need to sleep with the window closed.
